Chaverim:
I am about to begin a Shabbat at the annual Hava Nashira songleader's workshop at the Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute Camp in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. So I wish to offer just this short thought. Find the text of this week's Haftarah from Hosea. Look near the end of the Haftarah, at verses 21 & 22 of Chapter 2.
21 And I will espouse you forever: I will espouse you with righteousness and justice, And with goodness and mercy,
22 And I will espouse you with faithfulness; Then you shall be devoted to the Lord.
Well worn and well known words, often used in the context of a wedding ceremony, although that is not the context where this rabble-rousing prophet used them.
Still, in the context of any relationship, these are words worth thinking about. I commend them to you.
I hope your Shabbat is as joyful as I know mine will be among this community of kindred spirits.
Shabbat Shalom,
Adrian
